Flosstradamus Featuring Caroline Polachek- "Big Bills" single (Green Label Sound)

Yeah, I'm pretty sure this isn't even fair, but it came in the mail last week, so I just gotta'.

Of course I like it. I love it. Best song ever produced in the history of the world.

Fun, happy, clappy. Man...this is cheating. Even though I'm admittedly pleased that I no longer have to listen to it for 12 hours out of the day, it's still fucking wonderful. There are three remixes on the single. One is by Flosstradmus, one by Blaqstarr, and one by Jokers of the Scene. They are all very good.

Flosstradamus, time to put an album out. Caroline P., time to put more ipod commercials out. Great job!

Bad font, though. Just goes to show that Mountain Dew needs a new design team.

Five Amy Grants, but don't take my word for it.

Byeeee!

Afghan Raiders "Future Thinkers/Solid Gold EP" (Badical Beats)

Wooooooo!!!! Let'sgodancing! Or driving, cooking, screwing, whatever. Powerful, poppy, pushy, perfect.

The first song on this 4-track EP is "Future Thinkers", and is my favorite. (Glad they shoved it to the front of the line, because the remixes by Nite Cells and The Slips that show up later on the disc are just whatevs, nothing to write a blog about.) The bass is sweet. A little bumpy, but just enough to save us from tack. This is a song that I'll have stuck in my head and will want to sing it aloud, but I'll probably never really know the words.

*Side note: http://www.pretenders.org/lybra.htm ...I had no clue that word was "sidestep."

"Solid Gold" is solid, but maybe not gold. Solid silver. These dudes claim to have been influenced by LCD Soundsystem, and I think this track is actually an homage to the band. Lyrics: "We can dance to my favorite Soundsystem song." They sound an awfully lot like them, too. That's cool, I don't blame them. If you're doing electronic music, LCDS is a high target to aim for.

The hook goes something like "If this is love, what are you waiting for?", and reminds me of that scene in "I Know What You Did Last Summer" where Jennifer Love Hewitt's boobs are exploding out of her shirt after she finds the crabs in her trunk. That's right, JLH has crabs in her trunk. Ouch. Anyhoo, this song is great. It's more mysterious and less catchy than the first, but supports my theory that Afghan Raiders should put out more than just an EP.

Release date was July of 2008, so find a copy for yourself. They're out there, somewhere.

Four Amy Grants, but don't take my word for it.

First Review- Plushgun "Pins & Panzers" (Tommy Boy)

The dudes got this album in the mail about a week ago.

Here's what I think of it.

I don't think I like it, but I'm not mad at it. Lyrics are cheese-ball. Example: From the song "Impolite"- "I walk the line like Johnny Cash..." Really? Doubt it.

Their other song, "How We Roll" has a bad title and also sounds like the Josie and the Pussycats soundtrack.

However, I really like the song "Dancing in a Minefield." It's cute.

I like his voice, but overall, I think he's a bit too late. It's something I would've loved to have help me cross over from listening to Mest and MXPX to The Metric and The Postal Service.

At any rate, the album doesn't come out 'til February 17th, 2009. That's the same day as Michael Jordan's birthday, so at least there'll be something to celebrate.

Two Amy Grants, but don't take my word for it.

Kbye.

I review the albums that my roommates don't.

So, here's what's up with my blog. My house is full of music, a lot of it doesn't get listened to, so I've decided to become a music critic. Yeah!

My rating system is 1-5 Amy Grants.
